Taipei- National Palace Museum

When the Communist party took power in China they destroyed a lot of precious art and history in the Emperor's palace- The Forbidden City. The Taiwanese leaving China tried to salvage as much as they could and it ended up here in Taipei. This museum is regarded by some as the best collection of Chinese art in the world- it was quite impressive. Unfortunately I couldn't get many pictures of the stuff inside.

This is just the main building- there are two just like it on both sides, but I couldn't fit them in the picture. This place is gargantuan and very impressive.

This is one picture I got- this whole long thing these people are looking at is one ancient Chinese pictographic scroll. Super detailed and at least 20 feet long.

Beautiful gardens surrounding the museum- we enjoyed the shade from the hot hot day.
