Taipei- Chiang Kai Shek Memorial

Taiwan was settled by political refugees escaping China- led by Chiang Kai Shek. So in many ways he is seen as the founder of the country. So he has this HUGE monument. I mean HUGE!!! I have never seen anything like it. From where I am standing to the monument (which is the tower in the back) is about 3 football fields. With a huge courtyard in the middle you feel very dwarfed and intimidated.
The front gate.

There were two buildings like this on each side as you walk towards the monument. The national concert hall and recital hall. Can you see the little dots at the bottom of the wall on the left? Yea- that's people.
Still about a 150 yards away.

Inside the memorial. For those of you that have been to D.C. does this look familiar? Haha- well hello Mr. Lincoln!
