Taipei 8/18- Temples

Rick decided to the best way to "immerse" me was to go first to temples throughout the city. They technically were different religions (taoist, Buddhist, or Confucius) but because of the mixing of culture and religion over time they all look very similar. They were all beautiful.

Longshan Temple- people praying at the beginning
at the front alter. We could smell the incense coming off the subway a half a block away.

Dragons everywhere on all the temples
in bright hues of green and red

Praying to ancestors- each of the little lights you see
be the man is a candle devoted to an ancestor.

The back incense devoted to ancestor worship.

All of the shrines are like this- incredibly elaborate and gold plated. There are about a bizillion different gods and so each temple has alot of shrines. In the left is a monk reading scripture.

Rick and Lisa outside the temple

Beautiful gardens surround the temples- here were some men playing the most common Chinese game - Mahjong

Scary dragon/dog-thing
