Christmas time is here.

What a wonderful Christmas we had!
We started out having the traditional Jewish Christmas Eve dinner- Chinese Goose
(all I could think of was 'A Christmas Story' - fararara!)

Then we went ice skating downtown at Campus Martius.

The beautiful lit up tree

Sophia loved it

And she LOVED ice skating!
I totally thought she was going to hate it, but she started walking on her skates right away.

Some videos of Sophie's first time skating

We also went caroling to some friends (yes, we still do that!) and saw some killer Christmas lights.

Our very special Christmas cookies.
What can I say, we love Michigan?!

Rick making our traditional Danish Christmas morning breakfast.

And probably the most adorable part, Sophia started playing dress up as Mary and baby Jesus (aka the bunny).
At least something about Christmas sunk in.
What a wonderful time.

Sophia's 3rd Birthday!!!

I can't believe my little girl is 3?!
She is the light of my life.
I love her more than I knew possible.
And she'll always be my little Christmas baby.
Started the morning with a surprise out her door.

We had her party at the Henry Ford museum again, and it was so much fun.

Practicing our car making and repair skills

And of course, Sophia's favorite part- the trains.

They had a little station to write letters to Santa.
Sophia was more just scribbling, but had fun putting it in the mailbox.

Then a fun owl themed (per her request) lunch

The party favors

And the cute cake- designed by Sophia, executed by Rick.

Little kids birthday parities are so fun.

And Sophia was on cloud nine the whole time.
Playing, cake, presents??
No wonder she was asking about her birthday the next day too.

Sophia in her little fairy wings

I love this little girl's confidence in herself.
I hope it never changes.

Showing off her moves in her birthday ballerina outfit!

Daddy joined in.

He's the best.

We took the ballerina to see The Nutcracker.
(like this the WHOLE time)
It was the full 2 hours performance, and she was mesmerized the entire time, and cried when we had to leave.
This little girl is in love with ballet- it's adorable.

She hasn't even started dance lessons yet, but she learned the first two positions already.
Ridiculous.

We topped it off with a trip to see some spectacular Christmas lights.

What a wonderful day, celebrating a wonderful little girl.

Snow Day!

We had a good size snow storm, and quickly got out to play in the snow!
The last few Winter's haven't had very much snow, so got to live it up while we can!

We went sledding with lots of friends

Us and the Widtfeldt's

Sophia got braver this Winter- going down by herself

Making snow angels with Nena

And after seeing Frozen, Sophia was adamant about making a snowman.

And, just like the movie, his name is Olaf.
Every morning Sophia likes to look out the window and say hi to Olaf.

She's so fun.

Our little Winter home.
This is the first Winter I've felt really excited about the snow.
I don't know what's happening to this California girl, but we're having fun!
Talk to me come February though.
