When we arrived in Shalu, we found that our accomadations were not to our liking. Luckily, the old branch president (now the first counselor in the Stake Presidecy) invited us to his home where the conditions were significantly better. They took us out to see the sights, and even got some more Cuabing for Lisa (she liked the gummi bears a lot :) ).
When I was last here, there was talk of building a chapel, though the brach was still not big enough to merit the change. Well, the branch is now a ward with 130+ members in attendance on a regular basis. Seeing the chapel was such a blessing - it really moved me.
In Qingshui there is a wetlands to which many people flock - you'd think the wetlands were a place people usually are found ;). It was beautiful and I waded out about 150 yards (the water only went up to my calves in the deepest places).
At the end of the day (after our tour of the Matsu temple), a bunch of members got together to welcome me back. We had way too much to eat, and felt really loved. They were all enamoured by Lisa and said she was so beautiful. Even if I didn't feel I had an impoact in Taiwan, there are many who think I did.
