May Recap

Another fun month gone by!
Here's the highlights!
- Working lady: Sophia comes with Rick to visit me at the hospital while I'm working pretty regularly. So she knows that is where I work. When we're together she'll say "Let's go to the hospital", and I'll ask why, and she'll say "because I work there with mommy!"- melt my heart, why don't ya.
- Sneaky genius? She is getting more and more clever. The other day she was walking around eating a piece of toast. I was doing my makeup in the bathroom, and she came in, and I told her she couldn't eat food in the bathroom. She double checked- "no food in the bathroom?" and I confirmed this. Then she proceeded to stuff the entire piece of toast in her mouth at once, and then come in the bathroom.
I have not retaliation for that.
- I spy... She loves playing I Spy, and is always pointing things out "Look! It's a..."
- "You Saved Me!": she found this phrase somewhere and uses it all the time now. She'll run up, give me a big hug, and say "You saved me mommy! I love you!"- melt, melt, melt.
- "Baby swimsuit": we've gone swimming a few times, and I tell her that we have to put on her "bathing suit" or "swimsuit". She's combined the two, and now asks for her "baby swimsuit" to go swimming in.
- Boy vs Girl: she is definitely tuning in to the difference between boys and girls. She's always going over "Sophie is a girl. Mommy is a girl. Daddy is a boy." Most of her friends up to this point have been boys, but she is definitely more tuned in to finding other girls to play with whenever we go to parks and things. I've never given any toys gender roles (ex: trucks are for boys, etc.) , so she doesn't do that. But she does seem to just intuit that boys and girls play differently.
- "Myself"- she picked up that little reflexive pronoun lately, and it's just super cute. "I swing, myself"- and points to herself.
- Repetitive monster: I don't know why 2 year olds must do everything a million times, but they do. She fixates on one book for about a week, and we'll read it easily 6 times in a row at a go. Try reading "Fox in Socks" six times in a row- now that is devotion.

All in all, she's just getting much more independent and enjoying exploring things on her own more. It is so fascinating and fun to watch. Her personality continues to amaze me everyday.

Well, here are some cute photos we took at the park the other day.

I'm not sure why she looked so nervous...

LOVES this slide.
Over and over and over again.

She loves to hang from stuff and say "I'm a monkey!"

Love her!

Quick video of Sophia making up a song.
Her sefl-titled "Ducky song"- that quickly morph's into "Jingle Bells"
