California Trip

California.
Our true-hearts home.
We got to go for my sister's wedding, and had a blast, as always.

Learning how to walk on the conveyors at the airport

Enjoying the wonders of the Skymall catalogue

Once she mastered the conveyors, they were great entertainment during our layover.

Candy- makes every flight better

We ran a 1/2 Marathon the morning after we got to California.
It was kind of crazy on our part, but so worth it to run 13.1 miles along the coast.

The winners!
(Or the finishers)
I PR'd by like a minute, and Rick was a super star at 1:48

My cheer squad

And got to run in to an old high school friend!

The post-race meal
In-n-Out!!!

We got to spend Father's Day with Rick's family.

Father-Son love

Sophia LOVED spending time with Grandma and Grandpa

Chilling in PJ's with Grandpa

Visiting Grandpa's work in this cool car

She especially loved playing in their pool!!
Doesn't hurt that it was over 100 degrees the whole time.

By day 2, she was quite the brave little swimmer

Favorite game- throwing the turtles down the waterfall

Mom in the pool, retrieving the turtles

Her smile in this picture...

We went to the Palm Springs Air Museum.
Tons of WWII era airplanes.
Here's the B-17.
I just recently read Catch-22, and this was the most interesting part.

Crazy baby-drivers...

She's so Top Gun...

Baby SOS

Inside the B-17

I didn't understand what this statue was supposed to be of...

...pretty sure it's just for posing pictures like this.

Lunch and some quick sandcastle building

I'm good for climbing on I guess...

We went to the Getty Villa in Malibu.
One of my favorite places.

Like Romans...in Roman-times...

The architecture is modeled after a real villa in Pompeii.
It's fantastic.

Throwing pennies in the water

Checking out the statues

Sophia is a connoisseur of the abstract

The gardens- my favorite part

She wanted to go swimming SO bad

Penny tossing!

And running in the long hallways

Beautiful

I told Rick that we should have a house with big long halls like this, just so she can run like she was.

After the museum, we went down the road to the beach.
Sophia still thinking about the art...

...then realizing we're at the beach!! Yay!

She was so excited to see the ocean!

Until she felt how cold it was...

...and ran away crying.

All better now

Totally Californian.

Got to build, build, build

My cheesy little girl

Pre-wedding festivities at Kris & Heidi's pool

Recreating some childhood memories at the Horizon View Club
Amazing fun to take Sophia there, me and Katie have been coming since we were 3.

Those two. All tuckered out.

At the temple

The beautiful couple

All the 'Junior Mints'

Daddy-daughter dance

The reception was just gorgeous- on the rooftops of LA

Sophia had a blast dancing the night away until WAY after bedtime

Sophia kept saying "Heidi so pretty"

What an awesome wedding!

Some light reading before boarding.

My little pilot

Trying to be creative during the 'no electronics' period of the flight
LEGO plane for the win!
And might I add, glow sticks are a BIG hit??

Another great trip
