Detroit Design Festival 2014

We hit up the Detroit Design Festival, and had such a blast!
It's a huge event all through Midtown, showing and involving the city in art.
It brought such great things out in the community.

Sophia's favorite part was decorating her own shirt.
This "house" is a textile artist's studio.
She had tons of wood block stamps and paints to use.

Sophia had SO much fun.
Like I always say: "The Earth without Art is just Eh."

Grabbed a de-li-cious dinner at the Motor City Brewing.
We had to sit at the bar, and Sophia just fit right in- haha

We stopped at one of the many community gardens popping up all around the city.
Just beautiful!
Not what people see about Detroit- this is revitalization!

Loved the Free Community Vegetable Box!

Quickly enjoyed a delicious fresh tomato

Happiest picture ever of Sophia and Rick in front of the main building of Wayne State

Super sweet art piece mimicking the giant TV on 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'
They even had the sound effects from the original movie.

Sophia loved it.
"Am I coming in clear?"

And the highlight of the night!
Dlectricity!
A movement "show Detroit in a new light" through amazing art pieces all through midtown.
We didn't even see a fraction of it.
The main event was this video and music piece reflected onto the DIA and Detroit Public Library.

Here's just a short clip of what it was like.
It was 6 minutes long, and played over and over from 8p-12a

Sophia loved it and her and Rick were dancing.

Another art piece

And my favorite part was the Light Bike Parade!
About 7,000 riders, with their bikes lit up and rocking with stereos and energy all through the city.
It seriously went on forever. So fun

This type of thing makes me so in love with Detroit.
The vibrancy and energy, and the starting of something new.
I heart Detroit!
