The best time of year in the Mitten-state- FALL!!!
We love it here in the Fall.
And this year Sophia is old enough to start enjoying it too.
First a few of our favorite things about Sophia this month:
- My little parrot: so many words! The most exciting thing is that she is starting to put 2-4 word sentences together. Some words/phrases that she's learned lately: hold it, no want, I don't want it, I do it, soft, wait!, sticky, stop (usually accompanied with hand waving?), nakey (said emphatically during bath time), taadaa!, awesome, where, it's stuck, I dropped it, outside, wiggle (with corresponding body movement), Mickey, Minnie, Goofy (thanks gym daycare), lap, sit with you.
- Little finder: she's really good at finding her stuff now. She'll ask you where something is, and then if you tell her, she'll just go and get it on her own. Mostly convenient for the parent who's not having to go find everything all the time.
- All my ladies, who independent: she wants to do everything on her own, and we very much encourage that. She helps set the table, take her clothes on and off and put them in the laundry basket, put away her toys, brush her teeth, wash her hands, and change the oil in the car (okay, seeing if anyone is paying attention)
- A real tease: I've caught her teasing our dog with turkey meat a few times. Hanging it from her chair over the poor puppy, then saying "mine" and pulling it back. Not a very kind habit, we're working on it. Most of the time, she's very happy to share with her buddy Petra.
- Little runner: everywhere we go she wants to RUN! And her run is so cute, as she wiggles her little behind on her little legs. I love it.
- Silly song singer: any silly toddler song you can think of, Sophia knows and loves. The "Shake your wiggles out" song lights up her world. She will also let you sing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" as long as you humanly can.
- Books are #1: she still is obsessed with books. And she has started "reading" them to herself. She'll just sit and point at all the pictures that she knows, and say them over and over and be very happy for a long long time. She loves to sit in your lap and read together every day as long as she can pin you down.
- Animal lover: She knows soooo many animals and all their noises. Everywhere we go, she'll find the animals. She has started sleeping with all of her stuffed animals (never really interested before) and talks to them and points out their noses, ears, etc.
- Hugs and Kisses: she gives hugs and kisses to all of her friends and animals all the time. I love it! When she is about to go to bed, and doesn't want to go, she'll try and delay the inevitable by asking for hugs and kisses, and who's going to say no to that???
Not me!
So now for some Fall adventures. We go every year to the Cider Mills around here for the ice cold cider and hot fresh donuts. Nom, nom, nom.
