19 months

19 months down!

Sophia is just hilarious these days- and absolutely non-stop. Here favorite word is Go! and she does.

Favorite things this month:

-my little parrot: her vocabulary is just exploding! She'll try and mimic most things you say. Here's a few words (English and Chinese) she's picked up. Animal noises (moo, cluck, oink, quack), Jesus (points him out in pictures), shi-shi (thank you), apple, "right there", Dora, tan zi (blanket), xiang jiao (banana), shui (water), water (in English too), Daddy, read, car, phone, flower, TV, and my favorite "Sophie". I know I'm missing some, but you get the idea

-helpful hands: she always wants to help and do what we're doing. I let her empty the dishwasher with me, brush my teeth/ then hers, brush my hair/ then hers, put away toys where they go, put trash in the trash can, wash dishes in the sink, wash her hands, and she loves to help me cook and bake. Her favorite is to watch the mixer while I'm making bread and I let her add the flour.

- friendly: it's so fun watching her get to know her friends. She has a little buddy named Finn and a friend name Evie, and she asks for both of them by name. 

- little nerd: her favorite toy recently is the calculator. She knows just what drawer to get it from and will play on it forever, and take it with her in the car. She also is determined to figure out how our computer works (she knows that's where Dora the Explorer comes from)

- understanding: I think the most exciting thing is just being able to communicate better and better. I can ask her what she wants when she's frustrated, and through yes/no's, pointing, and signs can usually always figure it out. And if I tell her something that has to be done in order (ie. First we need to do <blank>, then we can <blank thing she wants>) she understands and will wait. It's so small, but amazing!

All in all, she's just amazing.

I caught some pictures of her doing her favorite activity- reading. If you sit and read with her, she'll do it all day long and bring you book after book.
