Go Tigers!

We scored some free tickets to a Tiger's game, and it was a beautiful warm night to enjoy it.
Such a beautiful view of the city. Love this stadium.

And they now have these gourmet hot dogs- they were SO good.

A thunder storm rolled in later on, but the game went on!

Beautiful night in the city.

Best Neighbors

You know you have great neighbors when your 4 year old draws them in your family portrait.
So lucky to have all the amazing neighbors we do.
(hint: Rick is the one with the orange beard)

Flower Day

Every year Eastern Market hosts Flower Day, and we finally made it up early enough to see it!

You could smell the flowers from blocks away- it was amazing.

15 ACRES of flowers.
Amazing.

A very merry un-birthday!

Sophia came up with the idea for a crepe un-birthday party, and I said- why not!
We cracked out the decorations and went for it.
No regrets.

Mother's Day

Being a mom is the best!
And I wouldn't trade it for anything.
This little girl made it a wonderful Mother's Day.
We had so much fun at her school's Mother's Day tea party.

Sophia and her best school friend- June.

The cute Mother's Day song from the kiddos.

And my sweet treat on Mother's Day

I will love this FOREVER

At the Mother's Day flower market.
Thank you sweet girl for making me a mother.

Anniversary Escape: Traverse City

We got to go away (sans child) for a night for our anniversary, and it was MARVELOUS!
(sorry Sophia- no offense)

We went up to Traverse City- a beautiful area of Northern Michigan.

The views in the grape vineyards and cherry trees was beautiful.

Love this guy of mine.

10 years later.

10 years later.
It hard to believe.
Partly it seems like yesterday we got married.
On the other hand, it feels like we've known each other forever.
And how did we commemorate this momentous date?!

Tattoos!
I can't wear rings while I work, and neither will Rick once he goes into surgery.
So we've been talking about this forever.

Some girls might ask for diamonds, but this will last longer ;)

Deciding what to put was TOUGH!
A close runner up was the symbol for pi - it's irrational but goes on forever.
But as nerdy and awesome as that is, we settled on the infinity symbol.
Love it, and love us.

Detroit Day

We obviously spend a LOT of time downtown Detroit, and we obviously LOVE it.
Especially as the weather warms up, it's hard not to want to spend all our time basking outside in the city.

We rode our bikes down the Dequindre cut from Eastern Market to the Riverwalk to enjoy a picnic on the beautiful river front.

Then we rode over to the original Tiger's Stadium (where Babe Ruth played) and watched a 1860s Vintage Baseball game.

Love this- I think it's more my speed than an actual Tiger's game. haha

And Sophia was in "dandelion-picking" heaven.
She made a bouquet and handed it to a an older woman there, and it was so sweet.

Back up the Dequindre Cut.
It's an old train track they turned in to a greenway for bicycling and running.

And I love the street art all over it.
Love Detroit!

cool kid.

At a super fun bday party with ballon animals, ice cones, and face painting.
This kid is too cool.

Family Day: Belle Isle

Once a year the Belle Isle Aquarium lets families come and help transfer the Koi back into their outdoor pond after the long winter.
It turned out to be such a beautiful Spring day, and we had so much fun!

Isn't this place just gorgeous?

Walking out our fish.
Sophia quickly named her "Clara".

Swim free Clara!

Then we got to run around enjoying the beautiful Spring flowers.

Even Sophia had to take pictures of the epic daffodils.

Couldn't get enough pictures with these flowers.

Love this place.

mommy&daughter date: Greenfield Village

I didn't have work or clinical, so I snuck Sophia out of school early and we had a mommy-daughter date!
and felt FABULOUS about it!

Of course we had to have custard.

Such a beautiful day.
We got to ride the horse powered "Omnibus", and Sophia was on cloud 9!

In this picture: A model T, and horse drawn Omnibus, the Wright brother's house and bicycle shop, and all the goodness of Michigan.
I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times.
I LOVE this place.

morning snuggles.

she sneaks in to the room.
crawls around the bed.
climbs in, and whispers, "mommy, i want to snuggle".
this is happiness.
