Spring with Friends

We had Sophia's best friend (and our neighbor) spend the night, and they had so much fun.

It was adorable to see how excited they were to spend the night together, and brought back so many fun memories of all the sleepovers I had with my friends growing up.

We kicked it off with roasting marshmallows for s'mores, because who doesn't love a s'more?

They actually slept super well, and all went great.

The next morning we took them down to the farm to see the new baby animals.

Here are the adorable baby lambs.

They got to test their farm-hand strength.

The two of them can just play for hours and hours.

They are just adorable together.

Almost as cute as these two.

Return of Greenfield Village

It's Spring and that means Greenfield Village is back open!

To say we're happy is an understatement!

I love the pure fantastical joy on her face here. I will always love this carousel.

Little Dancer

We just got Sophia's dance costume for her performance in the Summer, and she is SO excited to wear it.

Tell me a story

Sophia's learning her letters and doing so well.

She'll write these wholly random collection of letters and then tell us a story from them.

This she said was a letter that said, "Dear Mommy, I love you very much. Love, Sophia"

Melt my heart, why don't ya.

Baby Yogi

Sophia often asks to "do my yoga" at random times in the day.

She gets out the yoga mat and is so super cute. 

I found these great yoga videos for kids and that ends with meditation.

She'll definitely be more centered than I ever was a child (hopefully)- haha

let's go fly a kite...

I don't know if ANYONE has been so excited to fly a kite.

She's my fav.

Easter!

Some-bunny is excited for Easter!

Haha- she cracks me up.

We got to have a mommy-daughter day at the Easter event at the Zoo

Even got matching noses and whisker

And we made some Hot Cross Buns for our neighbors.

Legend has it, that a Hot Cross Bun made and delivered on Good Friday will ensure friendship and health for the year to come. 

Love that.

And finding the Easter basket in the morning!

For Easter morning we went on a hike through the woods.

It was so quiet and we spent time looking for signs of Spring.

 

When I asked Sophia to listen to the quiet, and how she felt, she said "peaceful".

I hope she remembers that's what Easter can be about- renewal and peace.

Scooter Pro

We've been going to the park a lot, and Sophia has become such a pro with her scooter. 

She's so proud to get to go so fast- it's adorable.

April Fools!

Remember that time I was SO funny and put several copies of this paper in the printer at work, and all the OR schedules got printed out on it, and everyone laughed?

And then the next person to come print something was a Dr printing a prescription that you could only print once...

Ooops.

Is it spring yet???

30 degrees.

Colder with windchill. 

And it's "supposed" to be Spring.

I feel like I'm being lied to, but we'll go on a bike ride anyway.

The least we can do is enjoy what we can.

Family Day- Belle Isle

We headed out to the continually revamped Belle Isle Aquarium

They had a new section with poison dart frogs and seahorses! 

Then a hop-skip-and-a-jump away to the Conservatory to feel the warmth of the tropical plants.

Doesn't it just look like summer??

Super Massive Blackhole

We got to got to this awesome exhibit about blackholes at the Cranbrook Science Museum

I just love this picture of Sophia, and the wonder she holds for the world.

She teaches me every day to see things through new eyes.

Mommy-Daughter Lunch Date

It's Kind of Warm!

We had a "kind of warm" and sunny day! 

So of course we grilled and ate outside, and Sophia was too cold and wore her coat.

What can I say- we're desperate for sun.

3.14 Day!

I don't know when people started celebrating Pi Day (March 14th), but I think it may be the best excuse of a holiday ever! So we held a party with our nerdy friends- all pizza and pie.

And it was epic.

Cold Zoo Day

We braved the cold and went to enjoy the zoo with some of our lovely neighbors.

Envious of the polar bear and his warm coat ;)

I love the warm indoor exhibits in our zoo that can break of the cold walking.

Little Rock Climber

Sophia has started a rock climbing class, and we get to climb for free too!

So now, it's become our family pass time!

Sophia started out a little timid, but she has quickly gained so much skill and tremendous confidence. I love seeing her soar and be proud of her hard work to learn something new.

Lean In Together

Rick and Sophia had a "daddy daughter date" after school, and this is what I came home to find.

So thankful to have this awesome co-parent of mine.
