Happy Mother's Day

Mother's love us the best.
They make us believe in ourselves.
I never could have comprehended the joy of Motherhood, and I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity.
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful women out there!

My First Easter

One of the most fun things about having a baby is everything is a first!
That makes everything twice as exciting!
At least for me...I don't think Sophia really cares all that much.
Easter was wonderful and it was so much fun to make a little kid Easter basket for my own baby- getting my Easter basket each year was always one of my fondest memories as a child.

And the other awesome part about Easter?
Little girl Easter dresses!
So pink, so fluffy, so ridiculously un-necessary and cute!
My sisters and I always had fun new Easter outfits, many times with matching hats, gloves and purses. As I said- ridiculous, but the tradition must continue!

Excuse the massive amounts of drool around her collar.

Sophie really didn't care about the basket,
but she did love her new stuffed bunny

And just like all other things currently,
it went straight to her mouth.

I know that Easter isn't really about toys, and bunnies, and candy-
it's about something much more important,
the chance to live again- to be new once more- through Jesus Christ.
Celebrating it with someone so precious and new,
that means all the world to me now.
Happy Easter!

Atomic Baby Bomb

This is Sophia's newest adventure- the jumper! It is pretty intense- Rick and I decided that it looks like an atom with baby as the nucleus.
Yes, we are nerds.

Her cute little feet don't touch all of the way, but she loves sitting up in it and looking around and wiggling back and forth.

Happy Easter?

I love to play around and dress Sophia up and take pictures
(if you read this, I am sure you may have noticed)
I got this bee in my bonnet about a cute Easter picture -
I thought it was cute, but Sophia wasn't as much of a fan.
Is it bad to think my baby crying is even cute?
Bad mommy.
ooooh, cellophane.

Happy Easter!!!

4 Months!

I can not even believe that Sophia is already 4 months old?!
People always tell you that once you have kids, time goes on fast forward- but I never even comprehended it before having this little lady.
She weighs in at 26 inches, 12lbs 15oz (she's a little on the light side- we're working on that).
And some of my favorite things about Sophia this month...
1. Gabba, gabber, goo-goo- she 'talks' all the time-seriously all the time. I love having little conversations with her.
2. She is a little rollie pollie- she can roll both ways and scoots all around on her playmat and in her crib by rolling to the side and then straightening out until she gets to where she wants. It is always an adventure to find out what position she'll end up in the morning.
3. She sticks out her tongue and makes spit bubbles all the time- I'll do it back to her and she thinks it is hilarious.
4. Always laughing- she loves being thrown up in the air, danced with, and especially when her daddy tickles her with his whiskers under her arm.
5. Reading- she'll sit and read with you indefinitely, Rick and her's favorite lately is looking at recipe books together- she loves the pictures.
6. She grabs with both hands and sticks whatever it is in her mouth in like 2 seconds flat- she has mastered the hand to mouth action.
7. Grabbing your face- this is something she just started doing the last few days, she'll grab your cheeks and pull you two together- ultimately to put your nose in her mouth. But it is so cute to have her grab my face with her little hands, I love it.
Overall, she is just getting more and more personality every day- it is an incredible thing to watch a person become a person. It is (most days) the most joyful and rewarding experience I've ever had. I recently heard someone say- when you become a mother, your heart lives outside of you. That expresses perfectly how I feel about Sophia- she is my whole heart.
Enjoy!

She is starting to figure out how to get those adorable headbands off!
I'll have to super glue them on ;)

We all looooove bath time.
She just grabs and kicks at everything- it is so cute.
Here she got the towel on her head, and then proceeded to eat her rubber duck and bowl.

(perfectly placed star bath toy- haha)

If this girl doesn't melt your heart, I don't know what will.

Oh Sunny Day!

The Sun finally came out! (At least for a little bit). It was an uncanny 75 degrees the other day, and it was just wonderful. We all took a romp down the street to the local park to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Sophia is very intrigued by Petra- this mysterious ball of black hair that is always running around and trying to lick her. I have a feeling they will be best of friends once Sophie gets a little bigger.

Baby up in the sky! I can fly twice as high!

One of baby and daddy's favorite pass times - airplane baby!

Just because I'm cute.

I could just stare at her all day-
so cute.

I especially have a fondness for her little hands and feet-
I could just eat them up.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

I have had a lot of people ask the classic question- who does she look like?
Most people see her blond hair and blue eyes, and assume she looks like Rick mostly, but I would just like to submit some photographic evidence. Sophia on the right, Lisa on the left.
The resemblance is somewhat uncanny at times.
1 day old

1 week old (with Grandparents)
While we were in California, I wanted to recreate some of my baby photos in my parents house (yes, they have lived there that long!). Same corner of the dining room, same front yard.
I do have to admit- we look a lot alike! It is funny to see, and makes me wonder if that means she'll grow up to be a little mini-me? For her sake, I sure hope not- haha. (any of you who knew me from ages 12-16 would understand- awkward)

And since I know you are itching to find out what Rick looked like as a baby, and so he doesn't feel left out- here you go...

What can I say, we're just a super cute baby family!

Waiting for Spring...

I got my flower on,
my bright green socks,
and am all ready to go.
Sigh.
