DaVinci Code-esque 7/19/09

So, Rick and I are a couple of nerds- and so we couldn't go around Paris without doing a little DaVinci Code. First stop, St. Sulpice.

St Germaine- the oldest church in Paris. You could see alot more of the medieval symbology.

The two opposite rose windows- notice the inverted pyramids- Rick caught it

Little observations of Paris- sidewalk cafes with chalkboard menus

The metro and cool metro signs- we used it ALOT

Used book shop on the street

Open air market

Butcher

Fresh spices for sale

Little boulangeries and patisseries to buy yummy sandwiches and pastries

We went to Pierre Hermes- one of the top choclatiers in Paris- Rick was on cloud 9. Here are some Macarons- no equivalent in the States. Delicious.

Chateau de Vincennes- a real fortress on the edge of Paris. Here is the outer wall and mote.

The Chapel and main fortress

Complete with drawbridge

We went to the Parc Floral de Paris- just lots of families chilling in the park

Rick with his gourmet chocolates

We went out to see the City of Lights at night. The Louvre was beautiful all lite up.

And Rick found the Rose line

Obviously pretty stoked

Parisian street light and street signs

The Arc du Triomphe- what a wonderful trip.

California Vacation

We decided we needed a break this summer, and are taking a whole lot of it :D First we went and spent 3 weeks in Southern California hanging out with family. Got to spend lots of time with our cute little nephew Jaden. Here's Rick and Jaden and Heidi at the beach.

Rick and Jaden decided to build a castle...

...and somehow Jaden ended up buried in it.

We wanted to go camping while we were there, but Jaden came down with the Chicken-pox. So instead, Rick and him did some manly grilling.

Jaden looooves legos- and so does Rick! They get along great. So for an early birthday trip, we went to the lego superstore at Downtown Disney. It was awesome with huge lego replicas- just check out Darth Vader.

Jaden opening his birthday presents- just a little excited.

Some of Jaden's birthday presents included waterguns- somehow they turned into an all out family water fight.
Yep -that's my mom ducking inbetween Rick and Heidi

Jaden's birthday lego set that Rick helped him to build. Fun times.
